Harbour Sunset – Art Print

Story of the product: A4 size Art print of my original watercolour painting showing a Star Ferry departing the Pier in Tsim Sha Tsui & crossing Victoria Harbour to Hong Kong Island. I worked from my own photo that was taken looking directly into the setting sun. I was fascinated by the way the sunlight sparkled on the water and made interesting silhouettes of the city buildings in the background. In watercolour painting, there is no such thing as ‘white paint’, instead the brightest (and whitest) areas are achieved by letting the colour of the watercolour paper come through. So to achieve the ‘sunlight sparkles’ in the water, I had to leave some of the paper colour exposed and paint around it. Another method of dabbing away the paint colour is used to achieve the ‘steam’ coming from the ferry Chimney, which I am particularly pleased with.
